In a world moving at breakneck speed, the desert Bedouins endure — not from resistance to change, but from a deep loyalty to an ancestral way of life rooted in harmony with nature, hospitality, and spiritual balance. This personal project was born from a desire to approach that serene resistance and witness the quiet dignity of those who remain deeply connected to a land that, though seemingly empty, is rich in memory, symbols, and wisdom.
All photographs in this series were taken in the Moroccan Sahara, where the vast landscape meets the timeless rhythm of nomadic life.
Guardians of the Desert is a visual and human journey into the heart of the Saharan Bedouins — heirs to an ancient wisdom passed down through generations. In their gestures, a simple yet profound spirituality emerges, making the desert not just a place, but a way of being. These images seek to capture the silent alliance between human, animal, and landscape.
Among their most trusted companions is the dromedary — not only a means of transport, but a spiritual partner. Their relationship with this noble creature is intimate, respectful, and almost sacred. They move together through the desert as one, sharing a rhythm, a breath, a bond deeper than words.
This work is the fruit of coexistence, not mere observation. A Bedouin tent is a sanctuary, where the traveler is welcomed with warmth that transcends material generosity. Each image speaks not only of what is visible, but also of an invisible wisdom — the kind that offers water to a stranger, or scans the dunes with ancient eyes, even while holding a phone.
Beyond landscape and aesthetics, this project honors a culture that teaches us — in the 21st century — that fullness can dwell in simplicity.
They are the Guardians: of memory, balance, and an ethic of care. But also of something more fragile and vital — a way of living in harmony with the Earth.
