The trail to Timbuktu - @chad.o_
Mohamed, a Malian returning refugee, stands barefoot on a football resting on sand carefully placed over rocks. The sand symbolizes the refugee camp in Mauritania, where he spent six years after fleeing conflict in Timbuktu, northern Mali. "I still remember how hot the sand was while playing football in M'bera refugee camp," he recalls. In his hands, he carries books, representing the education he pursued alongside his passion for football. Together, the symbols reflect how sport and learning offered hope, resilience, and purpose during displacement, helping shape the person he became after returning home.
