“Purprophyll Dreams” is an ongoing photographic project that explores neighborhoods where architecture and greenery exist in quiet harmony. Through images of homes, streets, gardens, and transitional urban spaces, the project reflects on the emotional atmosphere created when nature grows around domestic architecture and softens the rhythm of city life. The work is rooted in observing spaces that feel suspended between memory and presence, familiarity and dream. Inspired by neighborhoods such as Maadi in Cairo, the series captures moments where sunlight, vegetation, and architecture merge into scenes that feel both nostalgic and cinematic.

Visually, the project is shaped by a vintage and atmospheric aesthetic, with tones that move between spacious, dreamlike compositions and more intimate, quiet moments. The images focus not only on buildings themselves, but on the emotional character of the spaces surrounding them: shaded streets, softened facades, windows hidden behind trees, and the subtle relationship between interior and exterior worlds. Titles within the series such as “Chlorophyll growing at the edge of home,” “Leafy Liminality,” and “Daytime Dream” reflect the project’s interest in mood, transition, and the poetic presence of greenery within urban environments.

The project is currently in development, with several parts of Maadi already photographed. I plan to continue exploring additional areas within Maadi before expanding into other architecturally distinctive neighborhoods such as Garden City and Heliopolis. In the future, I hope to extend the work internationally by photographing cities outside Egypt, particularly places such as Brazil that share a strong visual and cultural relationship between architecture, tropical greenery, and urban identity.
