Yeongdeung-Kut is one of the traditional festivals held annually in Jeju Island, South Korea, to celebrate the New Year. Yeongdeunggut takes place over a 15-day period, starting on February 1 of the Lunar New Year, in various locations, and is attended not only by Jeju Islanders but also by many tourists.
Yeongdeung-kut is a ritualistic festival where Jeju Islanders celebrate the new year and pray for communion between heaven and earth, humans and gods.
The festival features many artistic performances, including Jeju's traditional agricultural music, "Ganggangsulae" and "Ssangnol", as well as an outdoor market and food street with a unique atmosphere.
