Médaille de bronze dans la sous-catégorie « Autre Regard »
This series of street photography was taken in Morocco and Egypt.
Photo 1: Our Mothers Left Behind - This photograph was taken in the city of Chefchaouen in northern Morocco. I witnessed the funeral of an old man from the neighborhood. The air was heavy, the neighbors lowered their heads, wept silently. The body of the deceased was taken by the men of the family to the cemetery, and the women mourning their loved one, could not go further than the top of the stairs which separate the old city from the new city. They watched the lifeless body leave in the distance, hoping their could say a last goodbye. This scene marked me because it also represents the way in which women are always left behind.
Photo 2: The Haj and the mosque - The old man was climbing the mountain to reach the mosque for the prayer. He was waiting for the call for the prayer to continue to climb.
Photos 3 and 4: Cairo's silent moments
Photos 5, 6 and 7: Follow the Nile - Photos taken in the train from south Egypt to Cairo.
